Step-by-step instructions
Kneel beside the person. Straighten their legs.
Place the arm nearest you at a right angle, palm up. Bring far arm across chest, back of hand against cheek.
Grab far knee and pull it up so the foot is flat on the ground.
Roll the person toward you onto their side. Adjust top leg at 90° to stabilize.
Tilt head back to keep airway open. Monitor breathing continuously.
Only use if the person is breathing and has no suspected spinal injury.
Key Warnings
- Do not use recovery position instead of CPR if not breathing.
- Do not move someone with suspected neck or back injury unless life-threatening danger.
