DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Hot skin — may be dry or still sweating.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Confusion, agitation, seizure, or unconsciousness.
Scene hazards: Continued heat exposure, Dehydration
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Call 112. Move person to coolest available place.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Lay flat. Remove outer clothing.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Apply wet sheets and fan continuously.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Place ice packs on neck, armpits, and groin.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Call 112. Say heatstroke — not responding / confused.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Report outdoor work or sport in extreme heat.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Hospital cooling and organ support are required.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Continue cooling until ambulance arrives.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT give aspirin or fever medicine — they do not help heatstroke.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT use ice-cold bath if it causes shivering in conscious person — follow dispatcher advice.
MYTH: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Heatstroke always means the person has stopped sweating
REALITY: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Sweating may continue especially in exertional heatstroke. Mental status change and hot body are key.
DANGER: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Delaying treatment because skin is not dry.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Body temperature rises above 40°C and organs fail.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Heatstroke kills quickly without aggressive cooling.
