Call 112. Sit them upright. Loosen tight clothes. Watch until help arrives.
What might I see? Observable signs — no diagnosis required.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Breathing very fast or using neck and belly muscles to breathe.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Cannot speak full sentences — only a few words at a time.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Blue or grey lips, fingernails, or face.

Asthma attack
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — A person with asthma is wheezing, coughing, and struggling to breathe. Their usual inhaler is not enough.

DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Sudden severe sore throat with fever, drooling, muffled voice, and difficulty swallowing — often in older children or adults.
Strangulation
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — A person was choked by hand, rope, cord, or fabric around the neck. They may be unconscious or have voice changes and bruising.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — If they have a prescribed inhaler and can use it, help them take one puff — but do not delay calling 112.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Monitor every few seconds — if they stop responding or breathing, start CPR.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Sudden or worsening breathlessness always needs emergency care — oxygen and advanced treatment may be required.
