DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Stop and move upwind — do not step into the spill.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Warn others: "Chemical spill — stay back!"
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Note container labels or truck markings from a safe distance if you can read them.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Establish a wide buffer — fumes travel farther than the visible spill.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — If you were splashed, begin flushing affected skin with copious running water.

REALITY: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Water can spread some chemicals, cause violent reactions, or create toxic gas. Only trained responders choose the right method.
DANGER: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Making the spill worse or creating a new vapor cloud.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Spilled chemicals can release fumes, react with each other, or soak into soil and drains.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Small spills can become large hazards if spread by shoes, vehicles, or water.
