DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Bite or scratch from an animal acting strangely — foaming mouth, staggering, biting objects, no fear of humans.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Saliva contact with an open wound, eye, or mouth.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Bat contact or unnoticed bite — especially while sleeping.

DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Move away from the animal — do not attempt to capture it unless trained.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Start washing the wound with soap and running water immediately.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Call for someone to take you to hospital or call 112.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Continue washing all bite and scratch sites for 15 full minutes.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Apply antiseptic after washing if available.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do not cover wounds tightly before medical assessment.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Tell doctors exactly what animal, where, and what contact occurred.

REALITY: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Post-exposure prophylaxis should begin immediately after wound washing. Waiting for the animal to be found wastes critical time.
DANGER: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Rabies becomes untreatable once symptoms start — always fatal.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear. Bites and saliva contact with broken skin or eyes require immediate medical prophylaxis.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Animals with rabies may act aggressive, paralyzed, drooling, or unusually tame — any mammal can carry rabies.
