Stay put. Save light. Cover mouth. Signal in pattern. Save water and warmth.

Step 1: Stop — do not wander deeper trying random passages
Step 2: Turn off unnecessary lights to save batteries
Step 3: Cover mouth with cloth if rock dust is thick
Step 4: Make noise periodically — shout or tap rocks in pattern when listening for rescuers
Step 5: Conserve warmth and water — huddle with group if present
