Cannot breathe — choking rescue. Can breathe — call 112, stay upright, do not probe throat.
Step 1: If they cannot breathe or speak — treat as severe choking (back blows and thrusts)
Step 2: If breathing but distressed — call 112 and keep them calm and upright
Step 3: Do not try to grab the object unless you clearly see it in the mouth
Step 4: Note what the object was — especially if it is a button battery
Step 5: Do not give food or drink
