Check safety. Tap and shout. Call 112. If not breathing — push hard on chest.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — If the person collapsed on a road, ensure traffic is stopped or the person is moved to safety before starting CPR.
Step 1: Check if the area is safe for you to approach
Step 2: Tap their shoulders firmly and shout — Are you okay?
Step 3: Call emergency services (112) immediately
Step 4: Check if they are breathing normally
Step 5: If not breathing normally — start chest compressions
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT waste time checking for a pulse — this is unreliable for untrained people.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT pour water on their face or try to make them drink anything.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT put anything in their mouth.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT assume they are "just sleeping" if they collapsed suddenly.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT move them unnecessarily, especially if they may have fallen and hit their head.
Any unwitnessed collapse requires emergency medical evaluation.
