Out of water. Hot water soak. Hospital if severe pain or chest symptoms.
Step 1: Get out of the water safely
Step 2: Rinse wound with seawater
Step 3: Remove visible spines with tweezers if you can without pushing deeper
Step 4: Soak in hot water as hot as tolerated for 30–90 minutes
Step 5: Go to hospital for stonefish, chest pain, or spreading symptoms
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT cut deeply into the wound to "bleed out venom".
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT apply ice as first treatment — hot water is preferred for most marine stings.
