Face-down back slaps, then two-finger chest thrusts. Repeat until clear or limp.
Step 1: If the baby can cough or cry — let them cough while you watch closely
Step 2: If not — lay the baby face-down on your forearm and give up to 5 back slaps
Step 3: Turn face-up and give up to 5 chest thrusts with two fingers
Step 4: Alternate until the object comes out or the baby goes limp
Step 5: If limp — call 112 and start infant CPR
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT shake the baby — ever.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT use abdominal thrusts or adult Heimlich on an infant.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT finger-sweep unless you clearly see the object in the mouth.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT give water or milk to "wash it down."
Call 112 if the baby becomes limp, stops breathing, or obstruction is not cleared.
