Call 112. Cover wound with moist clean cloth. Do not push anything back in. Keep them still.

Step 2: Cover the wound with a clean moist cloth or plastic wrap — do not push organs back in
Step 3: Keep the person lying down and still
Step 4: Do not give food, drink, or medicine

DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Do NOT let the person sit up or walk.

DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Say: "Open abdominal wound — organs may be exposed. Person needs ambulance now."
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Report whether the person is alert, breathing normally, and whether an object is embedded.

Any open abdominal wound with visible organs is immediately life-threatening.

DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — This injury always requires emergency surgery and cannot be managed at home.
DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Signs of shock — pale skin, fast pulse, confusion — mean the ambulance cannot wait.

Know your limits: DEVELOPMENT FIXTURE — Never push protruding organs back inside. Do not probe the wound. Call for advanced care.
